I’m Avirupa Basu—a PhD in Business Management, writer, and firm believer that the best stories often hide in the smallest moments. My background taught me to understand markets and people; writing taught me to turn that understanding into characters, contradictions, and occasionally questionable life choices.

I chose indie publishing for the freedom to build, shape, and champion my own work—apparently, I enjoy writing books and marketing them.

But I’m equally drawn to traditional publishing for its craft, collaboration, and the magic of having a team believe in a story.

 

So I happily live somewhere between the two: writing what moves me, promoting what I believe in, and finding stories where most people would simply see an ordinary weekday.

My stories are shaped by chance encounters, quiet conversations, lingering memories, and the emotions that live between the lines. I believe that even the briefest tale can spark reflection, evoke nostalgia, or remind us of the unexpected ways love appears in our lives.

This website is a home for my collection of my creative writing, including articles about my debut indie novel Oops My Heart Did a Somersault (which I loved writing and promoting more than anything in my life).
